ASHEVILLE — A private collection curated by Southern folk art collectors during a 40-year period has been gifted to the Asheville Art Museum and is on display through September 13.

Works in the “Huffman Gifts of Contemporary Southern Folk Art” were collected by Allen and Barry Huffman of Hickory from across the Southeast. The couple formed bonds with regional artists and learned first-hand the narratives of the pieces they collected, and the stories told by the self-taught artists through their art.
