WAYNESVILLE — Tag along on the wild ride of a nightclub singer who lands in a convent through the witness protection program at Haywood Arts Regional Theater, running for two weekends June 12-13 and June 19-20.
The show Sister Act, Jr., is cast with middle and high school talent from Kids at HART. ‘Raise your voice’ is the beautiful, central message of the musical about a willful songstress who finds grace and fulfillment in the place she least expects it.
“Sister Act JR. has been a wonderful uplifting experience for everyone. We are amazed at the talent and commitment shown by these actors,” said Kids at HART Artistic Director Shelia Sumpter, who has overseen the creation and evolution of Kids at HART into a pro-caliber youth theater company over the past several years.
The fabulous cast includes: Morgan Allen, Akilah Black, James Cloninger, Robin Cloninger, Ruby Cloninger, Lia Collier, Kayenta Cruz, Melodie Erickson, Chelcy Frost, Drake Frost, Naomi Gevjan, Rob Gevjan, Tabitha Gevjan, Turner Henline, Erica Henry, Hannah Meigs, Logan Norman, Josie Ostendorff, Jada Roundy, Savanna Shaw, Abby Welchel.
The stage crew includes music director Maria Frost, assistant director Nichole Sumpter, and Stage Manager Ellery Neal, plus volunteers with costumes, lights and sound.
Amanda Yoder has volunteered her time to help with the costumes, Jim Thomson with the lights, and Bruce Donley has given us sound. We are also happy to announce that we are using our young choreographers class to provide most of the choreography: Morgan Allen, Hannah Meigs, and Kayenta Cruz.”
Sister Act JR. will be on stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday June 12 & 19, and 2 p.m. Sunday June 13 & 20.
