ASHEVILLE — A free outdoor theatrical production of A Midsummer Night's Dream is running for the next two weeks by The Montford Park Players.
The production will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 11, 12, 13, 16, 18 and 19 at Hazel Robinson Amphitheater in Asheville.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is Montford Park Players’ biggest draw of the season whenever it is presented. This tale of feuding fairies, inept actors and some baffled lovers never fails to please. Although written in 1595, Midsummers’ bawdy humor and screwball hijinks never fail to please.
“This play is recognizable by most everyone, whether you like Shakespeare or not — and it's remained as popular as it is for a reason," said Director Hannah Williams. "The text of this play is very accessible, and when doing a production of it, there are no rules.”
The Montford Park Players is the longest running Shakesperean theater company in the state, although it produces other classical plays as well. It has nine show planned for the season, which runs through October, including ‘The Sword in the Stone’ and ‘Merry Wives of Windsor.’
The plays are free, but due to limited capacity, you must sign up for a free ticket ahead of time online. Do so by clicking here.
You can make a donation when getting the ticket online, and a hat will be passed at intermission as well.
