There are some who love winter; there are others who just get used to it; and then there’s you. Winter sports have no appeal, and the beauty of snow-covered landscapes give you the shivers. And when friends or family suggest spending some time outside, you can suddenly think of a hundred chores that need doing around the house.

You might hate winter with all your heart and soul, but that is no reason to turn yourself into a hermit as soon as the cold weather arrives. It is definitely possible to enjoy the passing of winter without getting involved in outdoor activities.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Play pool, go bowling, or discover curling
  • Register for dance, cooking, or aerobics classes
  • Go to the movies, the theater, the ballet, or the opera
  • Spend the day at a museum or a library
  • Make preserves for you and your loved ones
  • Learn how to knit (it’s all the rage!)
  • Redecorate your home
  • Enjoy the delights of dining out
  • Relax at a spa or hairdressing salon
  • Invite the children to an indoor amusement park
  • Visit family members
  • Go on a shopping spree
  • Attend a hockey or basketball match
  • Finally finish a project
  • Visit fairs and exhibitions
