Attend the Walk to End Elder Abuse from 5- 7 p.m., on Monday, June 17, starting at the Haywood County Justice Center and looping downtown Waynesville.

Over 200 participants walked last year to raise awareness and increase education about elder abuse, while also supporting local law enforcement and Haywood County agencies who protect senior citizens daily.

Activities start at 5 p.m. at the Justice Center, where a group photo will take place on the historic Court House steps with announcements at 5:45 p.m. and the walk will start at 6 p.m. The walk is sponsored by the Southwestern Area Agency on Aging along with the Haywood County Senior Resource Center, a division of Mountain Projects, the Haywood County Department of Health and Human Services, the Haywood County Sheriff's Department and local elder abuse agencies.
