Chimney Rock’s Greta the Groundhog waits all year for a chance to predict whether spring will come early or not. Bring the whole family to visit the Animal Discovery Den to see if our resident woodchuck sees her shadow on Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 10 a.m. – noon.

Following her prediction, take part in a family-friendly activity and guided hike along the Great Woodland Adventure trail. Woodland creatures take the spotlight at 12 Discovery Stations along this rolling .6-mile winding trail. Grady the Groundhog, the Park’s Animal Educator, illustrates how his forest friends live, including chipmunks, frogs, owls and butterflies. Kids can try to jump as far as a spider, spot the salamanders or get in the shell of a turtle. Larger-than-life wood and metal sculptures by local crafters and artists bring the trail to life.

Chimney Rock State Park is located on U.S. Highway 64/74A in Chimney Rock. See www.chimneyrockpark.com for more information.
