CULLOWHEE – See space from a whole new perspective with a telescope viewing party at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, courtesy of Western Carolina University at the Jackson County Airport.
Astronomy faculty from WCU will be on hand with telescopes to show the moon, Mars, star clusters and galaxies. They will also teach viewers how to identify spring constellations and lead activities for children on this year’s theme, “Moon and Mars.”
The Star Party is one of dozens of telescope viewing sessions being held across the state as part of the North Carolina Science Festival. The 9th annual North Carolina Statewide Star Party is a signature event of the 2021 N.C. Science Festival and is made possible through the support of the N.C. Space Grant.
In case of bad weather or overcast skies, the viewing will be postponed to Saturday, April 17, at the same time and location. For more info, call Enrique Gomez at 828-227-2718.
