WAYNESVILLE — A Stars & Stripes Celebration will take over Main Street in downtown Waynesville on Saturday, July 3.
Kids and families will be the star of the show for the Kids On Main parade. Join the fun by decking out your bikes, scooters, strollers and wagons with patriotic decor — think ribbons, streamers, beads, crazy hats, bubbles and, of course, flags. The Downtown Waynesville Association will provide decorations for those who need them. Walkers are welcome, too.
The parade steps off from the Haywood County Courthouse lawn at 11 a.m., with registration and a decorating party starting at 10 a.m. It travels three blocks up Main Street to Waynesville First Baptist Church with free ice cream at the end.
There will be ballon animals and face painting along the street, along with sidewalk musicians.
Shops, galleries and restaurants will be all gussied up for the celebration, offering special merchandising and menu items throughout the day.
A patriotic concert by the Haywood Community Band will be held at 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
