Camping in forest

Camping is a great way to connect with the outdoors and experience a brief moment away from the demands of everyday life. Buncombe County Recreation Services will open Lake Julian Park up for a night of camping and outdoor adventures on Saturday, June 22.

Held in conjunction with the National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Campout, the event is intended to help families and neighbors appreciate the wonders of nature and wildlife.

Preregistration is required. Each 20 ft x 20 ft campsite is $20. The event is intended to be a low frill backyard campout; attendees will need to bring their own tents and sleeping bags.

On-site check starts at 6 p.m. on June 22 and campers should be packed up by 9:30 a.m. on June 23. The event include a handful of outdoor activities geared to connect campers with nature and— of course — s’mores.

Register for the campout at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/great-american-campout-2019-tickets-60305107199.
