WAYNESVILLE — A new mountain biking club for youth in grades 8-12 is forming in Haywood County.

The Haywood Bike Club’s first meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Allens Creek Park.

Taught by local mountain biker Todd Murdock, riders will practice bike handling skills and learn bike safety. The Haywood Bike club will meet three times per month, with one of those days at Bent Creek Bike Park in Asheville.

The mountain biking club is the latest outdoor adventure offering by Haywood County Recreation and is perfect for riders with little to no experience. Haywood County Recreation has a limited number of mountain bikes for participants who don’t have their own.

Registration is limited to the first 30 participants. A one-time $10 club entry fee is due upon registration. 828-452-6789 or ian.smith@haywoodcountync.gov.
