HAYWOOD — Hundreds of triatheltes from across the South will descend on Haywood County for the Lake Logan Multisport Festival Aug. 7-8.

The epic triathlon weekend features three races over two days with varying distances for the swim-bike-run legs.

The event has exploded in popularity since its inception 15 years ago.

“Everyone enjoys the scenery, and Lake Logan is indescribable,” said race organizer Greg Duff of Glory Hound Events. “It’s a special location and on top of that we’re one of the only ones to have a wetsuit legal competition because of cooler water temperatures.”

After a swim across Lake Logan, triathletes will then mount their bikes for a ride down into Bethel and along the Pigeon River Valley, with the longer bike legs taking riders all the way through Clyde and out to Iron Duff and Crabtree.

Then, its on to the third and final running segment on the roads around Lake Logan.

All events include an aquabike and relay categories.

While the triathlons typically fill up by race day, there are still spots available. To register for the race or for more info, click here.
