HAYWOOD COUNTY — Haywood County Recreation is offering several guided hikes during June to connect the public with the rich natural resources and outdoor recreation in Haywood’s backyard.

All hikes are led by local, experienced guides. The cost is $10 per hike. To reserve a spot, call 828-452-6789 or email ian.smith@haywoodcountync.gov.

June’s line-up includes:

June 16: Asbury Trail. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on the way to Cataloochee Valley. 4.5 miles, 1,500-foot elevation gain. Led by Kathy Odvody and Vickey Watson.

June 20: Frying Pan Tower: Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway near Mount Pisgah. 6.25 miles, 1,600-foot elevation gain. Led by Lisa Cook and Steve Szczepanski.

June 26: Flat Creek Trail. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park along Heintooga Road between Maggie and Cherokee. 5.2 miles. 1,000-foot elevation gain. Led by Phyllis Woollen and Vickey Watson.

• June 30: Devil’s Courthouse via Mountains to Sea Trail. Located off the Blue Ridge Parkway. 4 miles, 800-foot elevation gain. Led by Vickey Watson and Kathy Odvody.
